What are the most conservative cities in Idaho?
Idaho is one of the reddest states in the country, and its most conservative areas fall into three regions: North Idaho's Kootenai County, which includes Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, and Rathdrum; the Boise suburbs of Meridian, Eagle, Star, and Kuna; and Eastern Idaho, anchored by Rexburg and Idaho Falls. Rexburg, home to BYU Idaho in Madison County, is among the most conservative communities in the entire state. Boise itself is more politically mixed, but its fast growing suburbs lean strongly conservative.
Why is Coeur d'Alene so conservative?
Coeur d'Alene and the rest of North Idaho combine a deep Western tradition of limited government and self reliance with a steady wave of conservative families relocating from California, Washington, and Oregon. Kootenai County has an especially active and organized Republican base. The result is a fast growing region that is both scenic and reliably conservative, which is a big part of why it draws so many relocating families.
Is Eagle, Idaho conservative?
Yes. Eagle is an affluent suburb just northwest of Boise in Ada County, and it leans Republican overall. Because it is highly educated and prosperous, it tends to be somewhat more moderate than rural North or Eastern Idaho, but it remains a solidly conservative, family oriented community with top rated schools.
